SHAPA to Explore the New EU Machinery Regulation Ahead of 2027
SHAPA members will have the opportunity to gain an insight into the significant changes being introduced by the new EU Machinery Regulation at an upcoming event presented by machinery safety specialist Robin J Carver RSP.
The EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 will fully apply from 14 January 2027, replacing the long-standing Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and introducing a number of important changes for machinery manufacturers, suppliers and users.
The SHAPA training session, taking place on 10th December, will provide an accessible introduction to the new requirements and explore what they could mean for businesses operating across the European and UK markets.

While the EU is moving from a Directive to a directly applicable Regulation, the UK is taking its own approach. The Government intends to continue recognising CE-marked machinery in Great Britain and has announced plans to update the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, with the aim of aligning UK requirements with the corresponding EU framework where practicable.
For SHAPA members operating across both markets, understanding these developments will be increasingly important as the January 2027 deadline approaches.
