Radar level has become a proven success story in bulk solids measurement, often replacing electromechanical and ultrasonic devices. Its immunity to dust, air movement, pressure and temperature changes ensures stable readings, even during pneumatic filling, where other technologies can struggle.
The VEGAPULS 6X builds on this as a single radar platform designed to handle virtually all level applications. Operating at 80 GHz, it delivers a tightly focused signal that avoids internal obstructions and build-up, while still detecting very weak reflections. This makes it particularly effective on low dielectric materials such as plastics, fly ash, cement powders and wood chips. With measuring ranges from short distances up to 120 m, fast response times and high accuracy, it is suited to both standard silo measurement and dynamic applications such as conveyor positioning and stockpile management.
For more straightforward applications, VEGA also offer compact, cost-effective radar sensors as a direct alternative to ultrasonic. These provide reliable measurement with no echo loss in dusty conditions, are unaffected by build-up, and require no separate controllers or coaxial cabling. Their small form factor and simple setup make them an easy upgrade, improving reliability and safety without adding complexity.
For remote inventory, VEGAPULS Air provides a practical IIoT solution for small vessels, hoppers and light bulk solids. Battery-powered and easy to install, it enables level monitoring without permanent power or complex infrastructure.
All VEGA plics® instruments feature integrated Bluetooth communication. Using the free VEGA Tools app, users can configure, diagnose and commission devices from a smartphone, tablet or PC. The built-in backup and restore function allows parameter sets to be saved and transferred between instruments, reducing commissioning time and simplifying maintenance, while enabling safe access from ground level.
