Millibeter, founded in 2012, specializes in breeding Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) to convert organic waste into valuable, sustainable raw materials. At the larval stage, these insects consume organic waste and produce outputs rich in chitin, proteins, and fats. This makes them suitable for a wide range of applications across agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage and chemical processing.
A key step in Millibeter’s production process involves sieving fully grown larvae before packaging. Initially, this was carried out manually, which proved both labor-intensive and inefficient, creating a bottleneck as production demands grew.
To support the transition to a pilot-scale operation, founder Johan Jacobs partnered with Russell Finex to find a more efficient solution. Following consultation and risk free product testing, the Finex Ultima™ was selected as the optimal screening solution.

The Finex Ultima™ is a high-performance round separator designed to handle both wet and dry materials. It is capable of grading materials into up to five fractions in a single operation and can also perform processes such as dewatering, dedusting, and product recovery. For Millibeter, this meant accurately separating larvae into four required fractions quickly and efficiently, significantly improving productivity while reducing manual labor.
By implementing the Finex Ultima™, Millibeter has streamlined its production process, enhanced screening capacity, and strengthened its ability to scale sustainable waste-to-resource operations.
