SHAPA structure
SHAPA comprises manufacturers and suppliers of equipment directly involved in the handling and processing of particulate solids. The Council of SHAPA comprises ten members who are responsible for policy decision and financial direction. General day-to-day administration of SHAPA is carried out by a professional secretariat.
Technical sub-committee
Since its formation, SHAPA has become increasingly active in its representation on various bodies and institutions such as the BSI, HSE, Institutions of Mechanical & Chemical Engineers and European Standards Committees.
At its regular meetings, the Committee ensures that this representation is maintained and developed. In addition, it considers emerging legislation and its relevance to members giving advice on its implementation through seminars and the SHAPA newsletter.
Marketing sub-committee
One of this Committee's basic functions is to promote the Association, its members and the image of the solids handling industry through trade press, representation at exhibitions, a dedicated SHAPA newsletter and other public relations activities.
It also seeks to continuously review, develop and expand the range of services open to members. New member services are developed from research into members needs.
Export Forum
Appreciating that export is an important area for many of our member companies SHAPA set up a members' Export Forum in December 2008. The Forum's regular meetings provide a facility for interested members to keep up to date with the latest market intelligence and learn about UKTI activities and events.
It is also a useful vehicle for the exchange of experience on specific markets and export related issues such as finding and appointing agents, does and don'ts of exporting etc.
